For Alpha Kappa Psi, my true love in college…

As a graduating senior, a retiring president, and a soon-to-be reminiscent alumnus, I am extremely proud of all the accomplishments and strides the Fraternity has made this year in our growing professionalism and brotherhood. I appreciate all the support from the amazing leaders of my executive board and dedicated actives and alumni in expanding our professional development and network through a strong foundation vested in the core values of our Fraternity.

First off, I would like to say…Congratulations to the graduating class of 2008!

Tony Tran, Iris Lee, Leah Hutchins, Diana Ha, Kristen Jue, Sam Chau, Andy Lam, Aaron Torng, Jonathan Kim, Michelle Soon, Tai Giang, Katherine Gidaya, Vincent Yuen, Kevin Cheah, Juefeng Ge, Tim Jou, Daniel Bahn, Kay Yamaguchi, Rosalie Chi, Charles Kang, and myself J

I want to also welcome our newly initiated brothers– Congratulations Rho class!

William Chang, Sophia Hwang, Tiffany Hsieh, Brian Ko, Jin Woo Lee, Lillian Nguyen, Bryant Tran, Jorge Velasquez, Raylan Wong, Jennifer Yu

You guys are 10 strong individuals who have worked hard in all your achievements. I am very proud to see so much professional growth and development within each and every one of you. Welcome to our family J

Also, I want to congratulate next year’s board! I am honored to have worked with such great leaders this year, which really helped grow the Fraternity to its current success. I trust that as we embark on our 10th year, Pi Psi chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi will continue to grow stronger– keeping our standards high.

The Fraternity has helped me grow and develop as a leader and as an individual with constant support and guidance from all my brothers. For more than 2.5 years, I learned to love, appreciate, and demand higher ideals. I found my place in the Fraternity with likeminded individuals who are ambitious and passionate. Gaining so much has allowed me to dedicate my all in giving back to the Fraternity. I want to thank my bros for giving me the opportunity to serve as your President for the 2007-2008 school year.

With much love,

Jessica Liu
President 2007-2008

Pi Psi, has strong inter-chapter relations with neighboring chapters. Every year, four local AKPsi Chapters – UC Irvine , UCLA, USC, and UC Riverside get together to host a large and well-promoted clubbing event called Trilogy. This year’s Trilogy was hosted by USC. The event was a great success with over 2000 in attendance.

Celebrate UC Irvine- April 19, 2008

This year, UC Irvine Alpha Kappa Psi chapter volunteered at the Celebrate UCI/Wayzgoose, UCI’s open house event. This annual spring event features games and rides for children, an Earth Day celebration, classic car show, and Wayzgoose Medieval Faire. The focus of this event was not only to do that but it was focused on getting the chapter closer to the campus by getting actives to become directly involved in an event where they benefit as well.

Our brothers took time out of their Friday afternoon to work closely with ASUCI Student Services to set up for the entire event in addition to giving information at the Alpha Kappa Psi booth and helping on the actual event date. The event was a great success with over 100 total hours of community service committed from our chapter.

Alpha Kappa Psi community service events are one of the many activities that active brothers participate in to build stronger brotherhood and to emphasize the importance serving the local community. Many other fraternities perform community service events such as beach clean ups or volunteering at a food bank but these events alone do not expose actives a full spectrum of the community involvement. For more updates on future community service event please check out our calendar.
